About the job
Living with mental health challenges can be demanding – both for the affected person and their environment. That is why the Interest Group for Social Psychiatry Zurich (IGSP) exists. It was founded 55 years ago out of the need to offer people supported and supervised living arrangements.Our goal: People with mental health challenges lead as independent a life as possible and can participate in society. Three points are central: We treat each other with respect and on an equal footing. We work purposefully with the resources that the client brings. And we see the individual person as a whole.
Living in one’s own home yet being professionally supported: The specialists of Supported Individual Living assist around 30 clients with mental health challenges in this way.
Further clients are cared for and supported within the framework of the Outpatient SEBE service. The service is tailored to their wishes and needs as well as within the scope of the funded care requirements (voucher).
In our 6 shared apartments of Supported Living, 22 clients live who attend an external day structure and wish to live independently but not alone. With occasional support and advice from the specialist of the same team, the focus is on as self-competent as possible everyday and life management.
From 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for a Social Psychiatry Specialist 70-80% with training in psychiatric nursing or social pedagogy (HF/FH).
Your main tasks
- Goal- and resource-oriented support of people with a mental health challenge
- Reliable and responsible relationship building
- Support in crisis situations and individual development steps
- Assistance in dealing with one’s own illness and everyday coping
- Support of group dynamic processes and practical everyday tasks
- Collaboration with external contacts and institutions
- Training in psychiatric nursing or social pedagogy at HF/FH level
- Professional experience in psychiatry, preferably also in Supported Living or psychosocial home care
- High degree of independence and personal responsibility as well as reflective ability
- Structured working method, networked thinking, organisational and planning skills
- Good IT skills and differentiated communication skills
- Integrity, enthusiasm and reliability with high social competence
- Responsible and independent work with scope for creativity
