Le groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire Human-Centred Computing Group de l'institut Informatique de la HES-SO Valais-Wallis est composé d'informaticiennes et d'informaticiens et de spécialistes des sciences sociales. Nous sommes actuellement à la recherche de deux chercheuses ou chercheurs postdoctoraux pour participer au projet « Beyond novelty: Everyday AI use in medical education and practice », financé par le Fonds national suisse (FNS).

Le projet comprend deux volets étroitement liés : (1) l'intégration de technologies basées sur l'intelligence artificielle dans l'enseignement et les interactions en classe en milieu médical (par ex. en radiologie) et (2) les procédures de prise de décision dans les établissements hospitaliers, avec un accent particulier sur l'intégration des technologies d'intelligence artificielle dans les pratiques cliniques et le raisonnement professionnel.

Les candidates et candidats retenus auront la possibilité de mener des travaux de recherche ethnographiques approfondis dans un environnement interdisciplinaire stimulant réunissant l'institut Informatique de la HES-SO Valais-Wallis et plusieurs services du CHUV à Lausanne, dont le Service de médecine nucléaire et imagerie moléculaire. Ils participeront à des enquêtes de terrain, à l'analyse de données ainsi qu'à la diffusion des résultats sous forme de publications et présentations.

Votre mission :

• Mener des études de terrain ethnographiques dans le cadre de l'enseignement médical et en milieu clinique.

• Récolter, organiser et analyser des données qualitatives, y compris du matériel audiovisuel.

• Contribuer à des publications scientifiques et à des présentations dans le cadre de conférences.

• Collaborer étroitement avec les groupes de recherche interdisciplinaires de la HES-SO Valais-Wallis et du CHUV.

• Participer aux séances de projet, aux activités de diffusion et aux événements académiques.

Votre profil :

• Doctorat en sociologie ou dans une discipline apparentée (par ex. études en sciences et technologie, sciences de l'éducation, pédagogie, interaction homme-machine, anthropologie, sociolinguistique) avec un intérêt marqué pour la technologie, le domaine médical et/ou l'IA.

• Ou doctorat en informatique ou dans un domaine technique apparenté, avec une solide expérience et un intérêt affirmé pour les sciences sociales.

• Bonnes connaissances des approches théoriques et méthodologiques dans le domaine.

• Capacité à mener de manière autonome des études de terrain et à préparer des publications scientifiques et des présentations pour des conférences.

• Maîtrise orale et écrite de l'anglais.

• Expérience en recherche en ethnométhodologie et/ou en analyse conversationnelle, en particulier dans les secteurs de la santé, de l'enseignement supérieur ou des environnements technologiques.

• Bonnes connaissances du français (niveau CECR B1 ou supérieur).

Postdoctoral researcher (80%)

The Human-Centred Computing Group, at the Institute of Informatics of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland, is an interdisciplinary research group consisting of computer and social scientists. We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers to join our team for the project "Beyond novelty: Everyday AI use in medical education and practice", funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

The project has two interrelated parts: (1) the integration of AI-based technologies into lecturing practices and classroom interaction in medical environments (e.g., in radiology), and (2) decision-making procedures in hospital settings, with an emphasis on how AI-based technologies are integrated into clinical workflows and professional reasoning.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to conduct in-depth ethnographic research in a rich interdisciplinary environment between the Institute of Informatics of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and several departments of the cantonal hospital in Lausanne (CHUV), including the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Department. The candidates will contribute to fieldwork, data analysis, and the dissemination of findings through publications and presentations.

Position description

• Conduct ethnographic fieldwork in medical education and clinical settings.

• Collect, organise, and analyse qualitative data, including audiovisual materials.

• Contribute to scientific publications and conference presentations.

• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary research teams at HES-SO Valais-Wallis and CHUV.

• Participate in project meetings, dissemination activities, and academic events.

Selection criteria

• PhD in sociology or a related field (e.g., science and technology studies, educational sciences, pedagogy, human-computer interaction, anthropology, sociolinguistics), with a strong interest in technology, healthcare, and/or AI.

• Alternatively, PhD in computer science or a related technical field with a strong background and serious interest in the social sciences.

• Familiarity with key theoretical and methodological approaches in the field.

• Ability to conduct fieldwork independently and to produce scientific publications and conference presentations.

• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.

• Experience in ethnomethodological and/or conversation-analytic research, particularly in healthcare, higher education, or technology-related contexts.

• Good command of French (CEFR level B1 or higher).
