About the job

Dynamic and active throughout the territory of Sion and Sierre as well as its seven partner municipalities (Arbaz, Ayent, Chalais, Chippis, Grimisuat, Grône, St-Léonard), the Regional Police of the Central Cities (PRVC) ensures, within the scope of its delegated powers, all missions and tasks related to maintaining public order and security.

As a public service officer, your mission consists of:

• Ensuring control of surface and underground parking spaces
• Collaborating with order services during events (signage, traffic management, etc.) and surveillance tasks
• Supporting and reinforcing other entities as needed and according to mission orders
• Carrying out various maintenance tasks (vehicles, parking meters, car parks, etc.).

Prerequisites:

• Native French speaker
• Swiss nationality or holder of a long-term residence permit with gainful employment
• Holder of a car driving licence (category B)
• Good physical condition (ability to walk for several hours, in all weather conditions)
• Motivation and commitment to public service
• Willingness to work irregular hours and flexibility for evening, night or weekend work
• Impeccable reputation, clean criminal record and not subject to prosecution.

 Your profile:

• Holder of a full initial professional training (CFC or equivalent qualification)
• Holder of the public security assistant certificate, or willing to undertake the paid theoretical and practical training of 9 weeks at the Savatan Police Academy
• Knowledge of road traffic legislation and fines. Experience in parking control is an asset
• Able to work on the front line, autonomously and responsibly, able to make decisions
• Ability to analyse and assess situations, resistance to stress
• Proven ability to communicate and interact with a proximity approach in contact with citizens and public domain users, ability to defuse potential conflicts
• Ease in using office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Another language (preferably German and/or English) and good knowledge of the perimeter and territory of the cities of Sion and Sierre as well as the partner municipalities (Arbaz, Ayent, Chalais, Chippis, Grimisuat, Grône, St-Léonard) served by the Regional Police of the Central Cities are assets.
