at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the field of cancer pharmacology and natural products.
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Geneva offers a dynamic and stimulating research environment in drug development, at the interface between fundamental research and clinical applications. The School is proud of its tradition in addressing challenges encountered by pharmaceutical sciences in a rapidly evolving world. In addition, we are in the proximity of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), which allows easy access to clinical collaborations. The research group, headed by Prof. Muriel Cuendet, focuses on the discovery and characterization of anticancer agents from various natural and synthetic sources with a special emphasis on identifying mechanisms of action involved in multiple myeloma and lung cancer. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, and we have access to all campus core facilities. We have a network of local and international collaborations. We are also part of the Translational Research Centre in Oncohaematology at the University of Geneva and the Swiss Cancer Center Léman.
Description
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences is opening a full-time position of senior research scientist in cancer pharmacology and natural products. This is a position dedicated to research and teaching, including teaching at bachelor’s, master’s and post-degree levels in pharmaceutical sciences.
You have research experience in line with the focus of the pharmacognosy group with a strong expertise in the study of the anticancer activity of natural or synthetic compounds. You want to lead an independent project to investigate novel strategies in cancer therapy and are willing to apply for third-party funding. You master techniques and complex equipment, such as flow cytometry, cell imaging and large data analysis. This will lead you to supervise research projects and to guide PhD students. Moreover, you have knowledge in the field of natural products. Finally, you have some experience in teaching and want to participate in the training of students in pharmaceutical sciences.
You will strengthen teaching in pharmacognosy and drug discovery. You will be involved in teaching practical courses in « Pharmacognosy and phytochemistry » and will be responsible for part of practical courses in « Pharmaceutical sciences ». You will also participate in the « Interdisciplinary project » course and in optional courses for the master in pharmaceutical sciences, as well as to the supervision of Master students.

Requirements
You have a PhD degree in life science or equivalent, some experience in conducting independent research and publications in the field of cancer and natural products. You also have teaching skills. Ideally, you have some French knowledge.
