The Department of Technical Operations includes the areas of municipal services, city bus, and urban greenery. Stadtwerk Winterthur employs around 400 staff and is responsible for a customer-oriented, economical, and ecological supply of the city of Winterthur and its surroundings. Due to retirement, the position of Director of Stadtwerk Winterthur is being newly filled. As Director, you report directly to the city council member responsible for the Department of Technical Operations.
Your Tasks
- Strategic, operational, personnel, and financial overall management of its five areas (Electricity and Telecom, Technology/Gas and Water, Heat and Waste Disposal, Sales and Procurement, Finance and Services)
- Ensuring the supply and disposal of the city of Winterthur and ongoing development according to the state of the art
- Implementation of political directives, budget and results responsibility
- Developing strategies and concepts for the city council and parliament
- Representation of Stadtwerk Winterthur as well as establishing and maintaining contacts with authorities, other public utility companies, and associations
- Representing the interests of the city of Winterthur in commissions, associations, and towards authorities and political bodies at local, cantonal, and national levels
Your Profile
- Degree (MAS) in engineering, economics, or environmental sciences or similar with additional training in business administration or public management with an affinity for the energy or supply industry
- Several years of experience in the field of energy supply in private and/or public organizations
- Long-standing leadership experience in direct and indirect management
- Understanding of political contexts and acceptance of democratic structures
- Integrity, resilience, and trustworthy personality with negotiation skills, assertiveness, and strong communication and enthusiasm abilities as well as high social competencies.
