Chief Clinical Officer or Deputy at the Addiction Medicine Service

The Addiction Medicine Service is seeking a chief clinical officer (deputy) in psychiatry and psychotherapy, at a 50% workload, on a permanent contract, to participate in psychiatric care and psychiatry and psychotherapy of addictions at the North Vaud Outpatient Consultation Unit (UCAN) in Yverdon-Les-Bains. The start date is scheduled for 1 November 2026.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital Centre (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.

The Department of Psychiatry consists of 12 services addressing the three stages of life. It covers the Central, Western and Northern psychiatric sectors of the canton. Its mission is the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care of children, adolescents, adults and the elderly suffering from mental disorders. Caregivers provide acute care to patients but also offer outpatient follow-ups and support in their usual living environment.

Led by Prof. Jean-Bernard Daeppen, the Addiction Medicine Service’s mission is to welcome and support anyone questioning their addictive behaviours with or without substances, as well as their relatives. It also serves patients and care teams at the CHUV confronted with addictive issues.

It includes outpatient, inpatient and liaison services. It provides interdisciplinary addiction follow-ups linking somatic, psychiatric and social skills. It also fulfils various mandates from the Federal Office of Public Health.

For opioid use disorders, the Addiction Medicine Service particularly offers programmes with opioid agonist prescriptions (OAT), including a treatment programme with diacetylmorphine (DAM - pharmaceutical heroin).

Mission

You will join the medical team of the Addiction Medicine Service and participate in a varied activity including notably:

• Psychiatric and psychotherapeutic treatment of patients presenting substance use and behavioural addictions
• Supervision and mentoring of assistant doctors in their training and patient care
• Participation in the supervision and support of the care team regarding psychiatric issues

The position also offers the opportunity to gradually develop expertise in addiction medicine, and in psychiatry and psychotherapy of addictions, particularly in the management of opioid use disorders and agonist treatments.

Profile

• You hold or are in the process of obtaining an FMH title in psychiatry and psychotherapy (for foreign diplomas, MEBEKO recognition is required)
• You have at least three years’ experience in general psychiatry, including one year in addiction medicine
• For non-French speakers, you have at least B2 level French proficiency (certificate required).
