GIS / IT Specialist

The Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation is a department of the Department of Economic Affairs and Social Affairs. It comprises the four divisions Agricultural Measures, Structural Improvements, Surveying and the GIS Competence Centre.
As a central IT and geo-service provider, the GIS Competence Centre operates and develops the geodata infrastructure of the cantonal administration. In an interdisciplinary team of eight specialists, you will implement innovative WebGIS solutions, specialised applications and geo-services. Using modern methods and processes, you will create digital tools that make spatial data easily accessible and effectively usable for the administration and the public.

We are looking for a GIS / IT Specialist for the GIS Competence Centre in the Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.
- Design, development and automation of robust data pipelines for the integration and transformation of complex geodata.
- Design, development and further development of specialised applications and WebGIS solutions as well as the necessary geo-services.
- Establishment and further development of modern workflows to make deployment and release processes efficient.
- Advising cantonal departments on the technical integration of geodata and evaluating new open-source and cloud technologies.
- University or university of applied sciences degree in geoinformatics, computer science, data science, geography or a related field. Applicants with relevant professional experience and further training in the GIS / IT field as well as recent graduates are also warmly welcome.
- Ideally experience with modern IT architectures, relational and spatial databases (e.g. PostGIS) as well as Python and SQL.
- High willingness to learn and enjoyment in methodically analysing complex problems, developing pragmatic solutions and quickly implementing new ideas in practice.
- Initiative, reliability and a solution-oriented working style.
