About the job
Leadership responsibility and free weekends - who says these don’t go together? An outpatient psychiatric centre in southern Thurgau proves otherwise. As a senior physician, you treat adults across the full diagnostic spectrum and train junior staff, on weekdays and without significant on-call duties.
People come here when everyday life becomes too much: adults of all ages, including seniors, in an acute crisis, with depression or burnout, or after a hospital stay when treatment should continue. They are referred by general practitioners, therapists, and relatives, but often also directly by the affected individuals themselves. The centre is part of the external psychiatric services of the canton, which operate local services in every district.
The core medical-psychological team is manageable: a chief physician, a lead doctor, two senior physicians, and two senior psychologists, plus assistant doctors and psychologists in training. Besides individual treatments, there are groups for skills and emotion regulation, an interactional group, and social competence training. In the same building, there is also an outpatient clinic for children and adolescents. The provider is a large private psychiatric group with several clinics in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
The premises are modern and close to the station. The community lies on the Winterthur-St. Gallen railway line. Trains run every half hour towards Zürich, Wil is one stop away, and the A1 motorway provides quick car access. Zürich Airport is reachable in about 40 minutes.
