The Clinic for Forensics (UPKF), as part of UPK Basel, is a supraregional university centre covering the broad spectrum of forensic psychiatry and psychology in diagnostics, expert assessments, therapy, research and teaching. The UPKF includes the areas of adult and youth forensics with full care from consultation services in institutions and prisons to inpatient services and outpatient treatment, as well as forensic psychology.

To fulfil these tasks, we work in an interprofessional team. Our work is guided by the principles of recovery orientation and we use dialectical behavioural approaches.

What to expect

• Opportunity to implement and further develop evidence-based nursing and patient-centred nursing practice in collaboration with the department management, nursing clinical management and the responsible nursing scientist
• Acting according to the latest nursing science findings
• Overall nursing case responsibility, together with the treating physicians
• Opportunity for independent case management
• Key worker role in the core team and implementation of the principles of the therapeutic milieu and the key nursing concept
• Support and advice for staff in the nursing process and in complex care situations
• Responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing updating of specialist topics, standards, nursing and treatment concepts
• Ensuring the delivery of group offerings such as the Social Skills group
• Active participation in projects and working groups
• Commitment in cross-departmental professional committees of the UPK
• Collaboration with other professional managers and the departments of Development and Research and Nursing/MTD/Social Work
• Promotion of the involvement of patients' relatives in treatment
• Training and support of patients in everyday inpatient life
• Co-responsibility for the safety of patients and staff

What distinguishes you

• You have a diploma as a Registered Nurse (HF/FH) and a degree in nursing science/psychiatric nursing or a comparable degree with a nursing focus
• Professional experience in the psychiatric/forensic field
• Enjoy working with people with mental illness
• Experience in forensic and general psychiatry
• Knowledge of dealing with personality disorders and illnesses from the schizophrenic spectrum
• Enjoy bringing your own skills and strengths of your personality to make an important contribution to interdisciplinary collaboration
• Enjoy guiding and advising colleagues
• Advanced reflection and relationship-building skills
• Enjoy resource-oriented work and interdisciplinary collaboration within forensic psychiatry
• A personality who enjoys working independently and in a structured manner
• Commitment, teamwork, resilience, social competence
• For foreign nursing diplomas, SRK registration is required, but the costs are covered by UPK.

The permanent position is available from 1 August 2026 or by arrangement.
