Ensuring electricity in Switzerland
Secure network operation begins with people who are well prepared. In this leadership role, you and your team ensure that employees in system operations are optimally trained, the right tools are available, and important processes and interfaces function reliably.
As Head of Operational Training & Support, you lead an eight-person team across three locations. You are directly integrated into real-time system operations and make an important contribution to ensuring that the Swiss transmission grid can be operated safely and reliably even in challenging situations.
Your diverse range of tasks is oriented towards the needs of system operations and includes in particular:
Leading and developing your team and creating the framework conditions for high quality, personal responsibility, and good collaboration
Developing, organising, and conducting training for internal and external employees in system operations using Swissgrid’s own simulators
Ensuring compliance, traceability, documentation, and quality control of training and certifications of real-time personnel according to the regulatory requirements of the industry
Further development of the Simulation Centre and the training portfolio, as well as the development and implementation of training programmes for operational system operations staff
Supporting the analysis of events in system operations and, as a result, the new or further development of affected processes
Proactive improvement and further development of concepts and processes related to system operations, especially through project work (client responsibility, project management, participation)
Coordinating operational interfaces with power plant operators, distribution network operators, and foreign transmission system operators, including responsibility for corresponding technical contracts and representing Swissgrid in national and international committees and working groups
This is how you make a difference
You are an entrepreneurial-minded leader who enjoys taking responsibility, quickly grasps complex contexts, and keeps an overview even with many parallel topics. You combine strategic thinking with a strong implementation focus and can bring different interests together into viable solutions. You bring the following:
University of Applied Sciences or university degree, preferably in a technical or economic field
Several years of experience in the energy industry, ideally with insights into various value creation stages and a good overview of different business areas of a transmission system operator
Leadership experience and enjoyment in developing employees, providing orientation, and delegating responsibility
Strong ability to quickly grasp new topics and complex contexts, recognise dependencies, and derive pragmatic solutions
Enjoyment of a versatile environment and advancing different topics simultaneously
Excellent communication skills, also at higher hierarchical levels and in exchange with the board of directors and supervisory authorities
Confident negotiation and German language skills and very good English skills; French and Italian are a plus
