Your Tasks
Support for the Head of Criminal Police: You support the Head of Criminal Police in professional, organisational and personnel matters.
Conduct criminal proceedings: You independently and responsibly conduct and complete criminal proceedings of all subject areas, sizes and degrees of difficulty.
Decisions: You order coercive measures in criminal proceedings, independently issue decisions (competence for penal orders) and represent the Public Prosecutor's Office before all instances.
Leadership and on-call duty: You lead several investigation teams, regularly perform on-call duties and occasionally lead working groups or special commissions.
Your Profile
Experience: Fulfilling this demanding and versatile role requires several years of professional experience in criminal prosecution.
Personality: You hold Swiss citizenship and reside in Switzerland (§12 para. 2 and 3 of the cantonal Court Organisation Act). You have a quick grasp, work in a structured and analytical manner, possess solid social skills, an impeccable reputation and are highly resilient.
Education: You have obtained a licentiate in law or a Master of Law from a Swiss university. If you have obtained the Master of Law from a foreign university, you additionally hold a cantonal lawyer's licence.
Language: You communicate fluently, factually, confidently and appropriately in German, both orally and in writing.
Insight into Our Work
The Public Prosecutor's Office Basel-Stadt, which is administratively attached to the Department of Justice and Security, conducts criminal proceedings for crimes, offences and misdemeanours. It brings charges and represents the prosecution, issues penal orders as well as other final rulings such as dismissal, suspension, non-prosecution or transfer. Additionally, the Public Prosecutor's Office provides both national and international legal assistance in criminal matters. These tasks are central to the administration of justice and the safety of the people in Basel-Stadt and beyond.
