System Engineer Infrastructure & DevOps 50 – 80%

For the IT Services area, we are looking for an immediate or agreed start date for a team-oriented, service-minded and independent personality with precise working and structured thinking skills.

The basic workload of the position is 50% in the area of DevOps and platform operations. If interested, the workload can be increased by up to 30% through tasks in the area of infrastructure and operations. These additional workload percentages are optional.

Your tasks in the area of DevOps and platform operations, 50%


Platform operations and digital specialist applications
  • Operation and further development of Linux- and Docker-based platforms including basic services such as web servers, DNS, certificates, databases, mail configurations and backups as well as evaluation and integration of further open-source applications
  • Technical operation, further development and support of web and specialist applications such as WordPress, Pressbooks and LimeSurvey, including updates, multisite environments, plugins and SAML connections
Automation, security and platform architecture
  • Further development of automated build, test and deployment processes with Docker and GitHub Actions as well as collaboration in the further development of the platform architecture, especially in the areas of Kubernetes, central logging, monitoring and system documentation
  • Improvement of security and operational stability of servers and applications through appropriate login, SSO, permission, patch as well as backup and recovery solutions

Your tasks in the area of infrastructure and operations, 10-30% (additional workload optional)

Infrastructure and cloud services
  • Operation, further development and automation of the Microsoft infrastructure (Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune and Windows Server)
  • Planning and implementation of cloud, infrastructure and security solutions
  • Further development of hybrid operating platforms as well as technical standards and processes
Artificial intelligence and new technologies
  • Evaluation and introduction of suitable AI services taking into account professional, technical and regulatory requirements
  • Building expertise as well as participation in standards, governance, security and data protection requirements for AI services
  • Support of specialist departments in the integration and use of AI solutions
Projects and technical further development
  • Assumption of project, subproject or coordination tasks according to experience and interest
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, concepts and operational documents
  • Collaboration in the continuous further development of IT services and operational processes

Your profile

  • Basic training as an IT specialist EFZ or comparable training with further education in software engineering with DevOps or degree
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with LAMP web servers, DNS, TLS certificates, load balancing, cluster, databases and backups
  • Very good knowledge of Linux and Docker and experience with automated deployments, CI/CD as well as ideally with GitHub Actions
  • Solid understanding of IT security, SSO, identity management and permissions
  • Experience with Kubernetes, monitoring or logging as well as knowledge of web application firewalls, reverse proxies or zero-trust approaches is an advantage
  • Very good German and English skills
