What you can look forward to.
About 14,000 employees in passenger transport ensure that the over 1.3 million SBB customers we transport daily have easy access to public transport and travel safely and punctually from A to B. The shunting staff, as a central professional group, make a key contribution to this. An innovative working environment awaits you, where you move the SBB together with your team colleagues, as well as a varied and paid training. In addition, you have various internal training opportunities. Attractive working conditions are important to us, even with irregular working hours. Night and weekend work are additionally compensated - for example, with 16 francs per hour for Sunday work. For night shifts, you also receive time bonuses between 10 and 30%. This means you have more free time than employees without night and weekend shifts. Possible start dates:
- 1 January 2027
- 1 May 2027
- 1 June 2027
- 1 August 2027
- 1 October 2027
What you will do.
- You prepare passenger trains for their journey, carry out shunting movements on train compositions and drive various locomotives with a maximum speed of 30 km/h within a limited area of the station to the defined departure point.
- During shunting movements, you monitor the route and thus ensure safety.
- You prepare the train readiness, enter data into safety and information systems and carry out brake tests.
- You fix minor defects or faults on the vehicle yourself if possible or report them to the responsible authority using the prescribed tools.
- Assignments as a shunting specialist (Ai40) in full shifts are a matter of course for you. You couple and uncouple rail vehicles, direct individual shunting movements and return train compositions.
What you bring with you.
- For this demanding work in 24-hour shift operation, you are physically and mentally resilient and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- In your daily work, you use a tablet, among other things. You have no difficulty handling modern work equipment.
- You have completed a basic education (at least EBA) and ideally have completed an apprenticeship. In addition, you already have professional experience in a craft, logistics or comparable field.
- You have very good knowledge of German, both spoken and written.
- You have perfect colour vision (no red/green colour blindness).
