Team Leader Care and Security 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Zurich Enforcement Facilities (VEZ) are one of eight main departments of JuWe. They comprise four institutions with a total of 314 enforcement places and around 230 employees. The VEZ house persons in closed and open enforcement, semi-detention, as well as in administrative detention under immigration law. The VEZ ensure the accommodation, care, and employment of the persons placed there and thus contribute to preventing recidivism and to public safety.
The Affoltern am Albis prison with 65 enforcement places and around 35 employees specialises in the enforcement of sentences or remaining sentences of no more than 18 months. In addition to the concept of group enforcement, which aims at increased personal responsibility of the inmates, a stage-appropriate education (BiSt) is offered.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a committed, reliable, and responsible person from 1 December 2026.
This is your field of activity
- You support the Head of Care in fulfilling tasks and take over the personnel management of the supervisors/carers during your shift
- You lead your team considering the guiding principles of the VEZ, organise and lead team meetings, and conduct employee discussions as well as qualifications within the framework of target agreements
- You promote team development and the professional advancement of the supervisors/carers and ensure sensible delegation of tasks within the team
- Together with your team, you ensure an orderly daily routine and guarantee the care of the persons placed there in compliance with all safety regulations, procedures, and instructions
- You recognise critical situations early, initiate appropriate measures, and act consistently and de-escalating even in demanding situations
- You are the contact person for the supervisors/carers during your shift and take over the on-call management function if required
- You are responsible for carrying out security checks such as cell inspections, body searches, and parcel controls
- You prepare reports, conduct hearings, and initiate disciplinary actions within your competencies
- You ensure interdisciplinary exchange between care, enforcement management, and other specialist areas of the Affoltern am Albis prison
- You maintain regular communication with the management team and enforcement management and support cross-departmental issues and projects
What you bring with you
- You have completed a recognised vocational training (EFZ) and are willing to attend further training such as the SKJV basic training to become a correctional services specialist
- You are a team-oriented, empathetic, and precise personality with an independent and solution-oriented working style
- You express yourself well in German both written and spoken, have knowledge of a second language (English/French/Italian), and are proficient with the MS Office suite
- You find it easy to resolve difficult situations in a de-escalating and consistent manner
- You are mentally and physically resilient and can reconcile shift work, including Sundays and public holidays, with other commitments
- You are at least 25 years old and have an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record or debt enforcement register)
