MET International AG (METI) was established in 2010 in order to consolidate and develop MET Group’s international natural gas sales and purchase portfolio, as well as to establish a trading arm for commodity lines.
METI is responsible for providing highly competitive supply structures to its gas and power sales affiliates, optimizing its power generation assets, managing the LNG portfolio, and trading around international positions.
Job Description
- Support the General Counsel and legal team with the preparation, review, and negotiation of trading documentation for LNG, Power, and Gas transactions
- Provide clear and practical legal support to the trading business on day-to-day commercial transactions
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of energy trading agreements, including sale and purchase agreements, transportation agreements, and other commercial contracts
- Assist the legal team in advising on the structuring and execution of LNG, Power, and Gas transactions
- Work closely with Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and other internal teams to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions
- Assist with identifying and assessing regulatory requirements relevant to LNG, Power, and Gas activities, including licensing and reporting obligations, and help ensure the company remains compliant
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in an in-house legal role or at an international law firm, ideally with exposure to LNG, Power, Gas, or broader energy trading
- Good foundation in legal drafting and contract negotiation, with an interest in developing expertise in energy marketing and trading agreements, both physical and financial
- Initial practical exposure to LNG or Natural Gas trading agreements is a strong advantage
- Good understanding of energy markets and an interest in commodity trading and related financial instruments
- Familiarity with EU commodity markets, exchanges, and commodity derivatives is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. German, French, or an Eastern European language is an advantage
- A proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset, with the motivation to learn and develop within a fast-paced energy trading environment
