The position is attached to the Operations Department . This department's mission is to ensure the stewardship and logistics necessary for the smooth running of all HUG services, including catering, cleaning and disinfection of premises, and laundry hygiene. It also manages the sterilisation service, the biomedical and equipment service, as well as Cressy-Santé. More than 1,300 professionals carry out their duties daily with constant attention to quality, a sense of service, and environmental responsibility.
The Biomedical & Equipment Service, composed of 47 employees, is responsible for managing the medical equipment fleet of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). Its main functions include technological and regulatory monitoring, investment planning, prescription, acquisition, and maintenance of medical equipment. Additionally, this service implements and monitors materiovigilance prescriptions (the head of service is the materiovigilance correspondent for HUG with SwissMedic).
Job Description
Under the responsibility of the head of the biomedical maintenance sector, you are part of a team of 4 group leaders sharing the management of different teams of referents and maintenance technicians.
You manage and supervise technical teams, ensuring their technical training.
You organise, plan, and prioritise the preventive and corrective maintenance of the assigned equipment.
You advise and assist referents, technicians, and users.
You contribute to establishing an organisation aimed at improving customer satisfaction and sector performance.
You implement workload plans and ensure their execution using indicators and dashboards.
You participate in the rigorous management of resources and in defining technical and organisational solutions that meet needs and ensure the best quality/cost ratio.
You collaborate with the 3 other group leaders responsible for other maintenance areas within the sector.
You regularly collaborate and exchange with various sectors (support, engineering, and quality).
You conduct studies and technical reports requested by management.
Your leadership skills (respect, listening, team spirit, fairness, recognition, agility), your rigour, and authenticity give you credibility that will allow you to support your collaborators by developing their team spirit. You ensure to provide them with regular feedback to develop their skills.
Your organisational and planning skills guarantee the management of medical devices according to resources and the needs of different sectors while maintaining a balance between production needs and staff well-being.
Sensitive to patient presence and hospital constraints, you supervise and ensure compliance with procedures and protocols defined in the sector's quality assurance system and all good professional practices.
Positive, authentic, and optimistic by nature, with a "customer service" orientation, you know how to motivate your team and maintain a partnership climate to proactively manage complex situations involving multiple professional actors.
You update your team's and your own knowledge related to your field through training.
Qualifications
You are the ideal candidate if you hold a diploma as an ES technician in electronics or an equivalent qualification, complemented by certified team management training.
You have at least 5 years of experience in biomedical device maintenance and at least 2 years of successful experience managing a team of collaborators.
You have a very good knowledge of medical devices and managerial skills for supervising collaborators.
You are proficient with office software Excel and Word and ideally have good experience with CMMS software.
You have a sense of organisation, methodology, and efficiency. Additionally, you have communication and listening skills. You know how to work in a team and have the ability to summarise and report. You demonstrate autonomy and take responsibility for your decisions.
You have perfect mastery of the French language, both spoken and written, and good knowledge of English (ECDL Advanced level). Basic knowledge of German is an asset.
Additional Information
You have a regular schedule and are able to be available outside working hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays for on-call duty according to rota and urgent interventions.
