Profile:
The EOC Pulmonology is a dynamic and integrated service, present at 4 cantonal sites with 15 specialists, covering the entire spectrum of respiratory diseases and sleep medicine. The Lugano Regional Hospital is its reference centre, where the most complex and innovative activities are concentrated.
We offer varied and stimulating clinical work, divided between outpatient clinics at the Italian Hospital, endoscopic activities, inpatient care and consultations at the Civic Hospital, supported by integration into a close-knit and multidisciplinary team characterised by a strong collaborative spirit and constant openness to innovation.
The ideal candidate will take charge of patients with respiratory diseases, sleep breathing disorders and will perform bronchoscopies and non-invasive and invasive instrumental examinations. They will also be available to take pulmonology on-call duties for consultations outside hours from all EOC sites.
The role holds a key position within a transversal organisation, offering concrete opportunities to actively contribute to the strategic development of the Service, with real growth and responsibility margins.
Completing the picture, the direct connection with the University of Italian Switzerland opens up the opportunity for teaching in the Master of Medicine, further enhancing the candidate’s professional and academic profile.
Necessary requirements:
- degree/diploma in medicine and specialisation in Pulmonology or equivalent title with related registration with MedReg before starting work.
For doctors with foreign qualifications, recognition by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and related registration with MedReg before starting work is mandatory;
- proven knowledge of the Italian language (required level at least B2) with related registration with MedReg before starting work. Good knowledge of English and preferably another national language;
- consolidated experience in Pulmonology with skills in diagnostic endoscopy, acquired at least in a university setting or in a cantonal hospital or equivalent foreign institute in a service with acute Pulmonology;
- preferential qualifications include specialisation in General Internal Medicine, knowledge of the Swiss healthcare system and familiarity with the university context.
Personal profile:
- excellent relational, communication and teamwork skills, with a propensity for continuous improvement and evolution; as well as cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- leading teams or clinical and/or organisational projects is a preferential qualification;
- interest in clinical research and academic medicine;
- willingness to continue and strengthen collaboration with local doctors.
