Supervisor / Care Worker 80 - 100%With around 1400 employees, the Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and the largest closed institution for men in Switzerland. With around 400 detention places, it contributes according to legal mandate to the protection of the public and at the same time creates the conditions for the resocialisation of the incarcerated persons.
For our standard regime (NV) we are looking for a committed individual as a Supervisor / Care Worker to start immediately or by arrangement.
This is your field of activity
- You accompany and care for incarcerated persons in the structured daily routine, support them as a contact person with their concerns and actively shape the daily prison life
- Ensuring a safe and orderly daily routine is part of your duties as well as the consistent adherence to and enforcement of safety and service regulations. You recognise critical situations early and act confidently even in challenging moments
- You are present during leisure and group activities, promote respectful interaction and contribute to a positive and orderly coexistence
- Administrative tasks such as writing reports and careful documentation of events also belong to your varied daily work
- As an active member of the company fire brigade, you also make an important contribution to safety within the JVA
What you bring with you
- A completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialised) matriculation, specialised middle school certificate or an equivalent qualification; ideally you already have experience in a comparable care function
- Very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
- Confident handling of common MS Office applications
- A stable, resilient personality with high physical and mental resilience as well as pronounced social competence
- Flexibility and willingness to work in shifts as well as on-call and weekend duties
- An impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal and debt registers) and a minimum age of 25 years
