About the job
You don’t just want to design systems, but strategically shape a central information system that is used daily by caseworkers in social insurance institutions? The productive and close integration of the system also requires the highest standards in availability, resilience, data protection, and traceability.
This position is designed for development: onboarding with mentoring by the lead architects, building product and domain knowledge over the first few months. Together with internal and external stakeholders, you will help shape the further development of a central information system with high societal relevance.
What you will achieve
Responsibility for the technical architecture of the information system and its sub-applications, which you will gradually take over in full scope
Evaluation of solution proposals from suppliers, design of alternatives, and transparent documentation of decisions
Support of projects and new professional requirements from analysis to implementation
Further development of the target architecture and modernisation roadmap: decoupling of sub-applications, replacement of outdated components
Design of the system for availability and resilience across multiple instances
Representation of architectural decisions towards suppliers, departments, and committees
Why you will succeed
Completed studies in computer science (FH, university, ETH) or comparable qualification
Initial experience in an architecture role or comparable responsibility in solution conception
Thinking in distributed systems: consistency models, transaction boundaries, and error behaviour between components are familiar to you
Experience with coupling systems via messaging and their consequences for state management and restart (IBM MQ, Kafka or comparable)
Familiar with containerised platforms (Kubernetes or OpenShift)
Experience with document management systems and workflow engines is an advantage
Ability to document and justify technical decisions in a structured manner
Strong communication skills in dealing with suppliers, departments, and operations teams
Very good German and good English skills
We offer
An architecture role with direct impact on socially relevant processes
Targeted onboarding and mentoring by experienced lead architects
The opportunity to grow into comprehensive architectural responsibility
Challenging modernisation projects in a complex, business-critical system landscape
Flexible working hours and hybrid working (2 days on site)
Attractive training opportunities
At least 25 days of holiday and modern employment conditions
