This privacy policy informs you about how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you use our website or contact us.

1. Collection and storage of personal data as well as the type and purpose of their use

a) When visiting the website

When you access our websites (www.stwz.ch / www.kundenportal.stwz.ch), information is automatically sent to the server of our websites by the browser used on your device. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file. The following information is collected, stored without your intervention, and automatically anonymised after 30 days:

• IP address of the requesting computer,
• Date and time of access,
• Name and URL of the retrieved file,
• Website from which the access was made (referrer URL),
• Browser type and version as well as other information transmitted by the browser (such as the operating system of your computer, the name of your access provider, geographic origin, language settings, etc.).

The data mentioned above are processed by us for the following purposes:

• to enable the use of the website (connection establishment)
• to ensure comfortable use of our website
• to permanently ensure system security and stability
• to enable the technical administration of the network infrastructure
• to enable the optimisation of the internet offer
• for internal statistical purposes

b) When using our contact form

For any questions, we offer you the possibility to contact us via a form provided on the website www.stwz.ch. Providing a valid email address and a message is required so that we know who the inquiry is from and can respond to it. Further information can be provided voluntarily.

The personal data collected by us for the use of the contact form will be automatically deleted after your inquiry has been processed.

c) When using the customer portal

You can use our customer portal in two different ways: registered or unregistered.

Unregistered use

Within the scope of unregistered use, you can report a move-in, move within, or move-out via the customer portal. For this purpose, the following categories of personal data are collected in particular:

• Contact details
• Previous and new address
• Information about the tenancy or property acquisition
• Information about payment methods

Registered use

Once you register for the customer portal, you can use it not only to report move-ins, moves within, or move-outs but also for the following purposes: viewing invoices, overview of existing contracts for used products (electricity, gas, water, and wastewater) as well as energy costs or consumption load profile (only when using the smart meter). Within the customer portal, in addition to the information mentioned above, contact details, address, and payment method information are processed in particular.

You have the option to make adjustments to your user data independently in your customer profile. Furthermore, you can delete your profile in the customer portal independently. Please note that your data will only be irrevocably deleted after the processing purpose has ended or in the case of a move or move-out from Zofingen after the retention period has expired.

d) Job application

If you apply for a job with us, we ask you to provide personal data such as name, contact details, and information about your career (CV). In addition to these mandatory details, you can provide us with further information. This is generally done via personal@stwz.ch.

We retain personal data as long as they are needed for the purpose for which they were collected or for a period for which we are obliged by applicable laws, regulations, or contractual agreements.

e) Competitions

If you participate in one of our competitions or a raffle, we primarily process the personal data you provide to determine the winner, notify them, and deliver the prize.

Depending on the competition, we use your data announced in the competition to send you general or personalised information about similar products and events by email or post. For this purpose, your data may be enriched with further information to conduct target group analyses and create user profiles.

f) Tracking website visits: Cookies & Pixels

We use cookies and similar technologies (pixels) to ensure the technical functionality of our website, analyse usage, and improve our content and marketing measures. In particular, IP address, device and browser information, operating system, usage behaviour, and similar technical data may be processed.

We use so-called session cookies to recognise that you have already visited individual pages of our website, logged into your user account, or for shopping cart display. These are automatically deleted after you leave our site.

In addition, we also use temporary cookies to optimise user-friendliness, which are stored on your device for a certain defined period.
