Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Immunology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva is seeking

a scientific collaborator 2 at 100%

to join the computational immunology research group led by Prof. Santiago Carmona. The laboratory develops cutting-edge bioinformatics methods for the analysis of high-throughput "omics" data, focusing on the regulation of the immune system in cancer and other human diseases.

Your tasks will include:

• Designing and developing computational methods for the analysis of high-dimensional biomedical data, notably in single-cell and spatial omics.
• Maintaining the computational infrastructure as well as the laboratory's software and data resources.
• Applying algorithms (new or existing) to reveal patterns of immune system regulation in the context of cancer and other pathologies.
• Contributing to the valorisation of research results by writing scientific manuscripts and presenting work at conferences.
• Participating in the supervision of PhD, master’s and bachelor’s students, as well as other laboratory interns.
• Participating in teaching activities in bioinformatics and data science within the Faculty.
• Ensuring cutting-edge technological monitoring in the field and participating in working groups, colloquia and relevant seminars.

Required Title and Skills

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology or equivalent field.
• At least 5 years of postdoctoral research experience.
• Proficiency in Python and R applied to biological data analysis.
• Proven experience in single-cell and spatial omics data analysis.
• Strong publication record in the field of bioinformatics.
• Confirmed experience in scientific software development.
• Proven experience in student supervision.
• Solid knowledge in cancer and immunology fields.
• Ability to work simultaneously on several interdisciplinary projects with collaborators from different research domains.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
• Autonomy, scientific rigour and organisational skills in a dynamic research environment.
