Our university clinics are not only responsible for specialised psychiatric care but also make a significant contribution to university research, teaching, and the training of all professional groups. The Clinical Social Service of Adult Psychiatry (EPP), consisting of around 45 dedicated employees, supports patients in coping with social problems. At the Murtenstrasse 21 location, the University Clinic for Adult Psychiatry offers a general psychiatric consultation and various specialised consultations (including anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders, autism, ADHD, gynaecological psychiatry). These are supported by clinical social work. Another area of activity is the Child Protection Unit of the Clinical Social Service of the EPP. The unit advises UPZ-internal interdisciplinary treatment teams on questions concerning child protection in the treatment of mentally ill parents. The advice to the treatment staff is provided in cooperation with the social workers of the respective ward (or day clinic or outpatient clinic) and includes topics such as voluntary family support, guardianship, or official child protection risk reports.
