About the job
The canton of Glarus is traversed by a lively network of water bodies, has substantial groundwater aquifers, and often experiences intensive water usage. The Department of Environmental Protection and Energy handles all topics related to water protection such as drinking water, groundwater, wastewater, industry and commerce, agricultural water protection, revitalisations, springs, surface waters, surges and ebbs, sediment transport.
For the Department of Environmental Protection and Energy we are looking for a
Specialist in Water Protection 80 %
from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, based in Glarus.
Tasks
- Implementation of tasks according to federal and cantonal water protection legislation (focus areas by arrangement)
- Management and execution of projects
- Review of building applications in the specialist area
- Consultation of municipalities, businesses and private individuals
- Support in the strategic and conceptual development of the specialist areas
- Participation in interdisciplinary working groups and selected committees
- Participation in environmental on-call service according to duty roster (category B driving licence required)
Requirements
- University or university of applied sciences degree in environmental science, engineering or a related field
- Experience in water protection is an advantage
- Negotiation skills and assertiveness
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility regarding on-call duty
