About the job
Do you want to actively shape the development of the municipality and be responsible for the demanding operation of the extended Roads Department? Take on a key role in leadership and actively and independently provide quality service in the extended municipal road service.
Head of Department Roads and Water Maintenance 80-100 %
We are looking for an engaged person to start immediately or by arrangement
Your tasks:
- Management of the extended Roads Department (team leadership, safety officer, budget, maintenance, cleaning, planning, winter service including on-call duty, markings/signage, footpaths and hiking trails, sponge city, forest road maintenance, etc.)
- Water maintenance and practical advice on flood and renaturation projects
- Maintenance of road drainage and the network of foul and stormwater pipes
- Responsibility for the operation of public lighting as part of the roads together with an external partner
- Operation of disposal/recycling sites with internal and external partners
- Coordinated implementation of safety requirements in the traffic environment
- Representation of the department's interests in infrastructure projects
Our desired profile:
- Strong technical understanding, manual skills, good physical condition as well as team and coordination strength. In addition, responsibility and flexibility are required - as well as the willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions alongside administrative tasks
- Recognized construction-related training (e.g. road construction, general construction, crafts training (wood/forestry, metal, horticulture, vehicle technology, disposal/recycling) or a comparable qualification)
- Several years of practical experience in team leadership (present, tangible) and related fields
- Analytical, conceptual and networked thinking skills
- Trustworthy and assertive personality with persuasiveness
- Identification with sustainable operation and construction of municipal infrastructure
- Driver's license category B + E, option C
- Willingness to periodically take on on-call duty and thus have a short commute
