Job description
The Coercive Measures Court (CMC) is the cantonal authority responsible for approving, upon request from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Judges of the Juvenile Criminal Court, the Police, a Court of First Instance, the Penal Sanctions and Probation Enforcement Service, as well as the Population and Migration Service, particularly incisive coercive measures, both at the criminal and administrative levels. Its decisions are made by a single judge.
Desired profile
- Lawyer’s diploma, licence or master’s degree in law, and sufficient practical knowledge for the exercise of the function
- Proven skills in criminal law
- 60% position, requiring great availability to ensure on-call duties
- The Judicial Council is looking for a bilingual judge. The position is also open to a German-speaking judge who, with the support of a bilingual clerk, would also be able and motivated to handle cases in French. Good to very good oral knowledge of French is required, including good or very good comprehension skills as well as sufficient oral expression ability
- Active citizenship at the cantonal level. Foreign nationals must hold a settlement permit and have been domiciled in the canton for at least five years. Candidates must not be subject to bankruptcy proceedings nor have been criminally convicted for acts incompatible with the function
