About the job
The Ballenberg Open-Air Museum houses over 100 historic residential and agricultural buildings from all regions of Switzerland. Each house tells its own story. The staff demonstrate living crafts, tend the fields, gardens, and animals in the museum. They convey the history of rural farming Switzerland, the life and work of people in past centuries. The view of earlier ways of life is full of inspiration for the present and future.
For one of the most attractive museums in Switzerland, we are looking for a gardener, 80% (with seasonal fluctuations) for a permanent position starting 1 February 2027 or by arrangement.
You have completed a "gardener apprenticeship" and/or have experience in gardening. You apply your extensive plant knowledge with passion to our historic rural gardens. Responsibility, independent work, and a friendly manner are natural for you. In addition, you hold a category B driving licence (car).
During the season (April to October), you are prepared to make an above-average effort, occasionally also on weekends. In the winter months, alongside plant care, forestry and general maintenance work are the focus of your activities. As a team-oriented and communicative person, you are interested in acquiring broad knowledge about our gardens, historical background, and the museum, and in engaging with our guests.
As part of the Ballenberg family, you benefit from many discounts in and around the museum.
Do you feel addressed? Then we look forward to receiving your application with salary expectations by email by 30 October 2026 at personal@ballenberg.ch
