The Secondary and Vocational Education Office of the Canton of Zurich (MBA) is committed to the interests of youth, politics and business for the cantonal secondary and vocational schools, providers of preparatory vocational years and training companies. As a customer-oriented service provider, the Digital Service Center Sek II department of the MBA, in cooperation with various internal and external partners, ensures a contemporary IT service for around 60,000 users at over 40 cantonal schools. Within the Digital Service Center Sek II, the Educational Technology area provides teachers and learners with digital solutions and resources that support the teaching/learning process.
We are looking for an Education Technology Specialist with a focus on Learning Management Systems and E-Assessment (80–100%) from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement. The position is permanent.
Your area of responsibility
You will take professional responsibility for the operation, further development and lifecycle of the central EdTech specialist applications with a focus on LMS and E-Assessment. This includes the support and further development of the Moodle learning platform as well as the E-Assessment portfolio including solutions for secure digital examinations.
You will gather requirements from schools, translate pedagogical and professional needs into technical requirements and advise on the introduction and use of EdTech solutions. In doing so, you will accompany their integration into the existing IT landscape, especially in the areas of IAM/SSO, user and course lifecycle as well as interfaces.
You coordinate releases, changes and further developments, support in complex disruptions and take into account requirements from information security, data protection and compliance. In addition, you manage external service providers, work closely with schools and internal cantonal specialist departments and contribute to operational, service and governance models as well as projects in the field of Educational Technology.
Your profile
You have completed training or studies in computer science, media informatics, business informatics or a comparable qualification; alternatively, you bring teaching experience with corresponding additional qualifications in computer science and EdTech. You have experience in leading and coordinating projects (ideally Hermes project methodology) and have sound knowledge in the EdTech field, especially regarding digital learning, teaching and examination environments as well as learning management systems, ideally Moodle. Knowledge in digital examination and E-Assessment is an advantage.
You are interested in current technological and pedagogical developments and understand the interplay of professional requirements, technology, information security and data protection. You communicate confidently with different stakeholders and work independently, structured and solution-oriented. You keep an overview even in intensive operational phases. Fluent German and good English skills complete your profile.
