System Engineer PLC (m/f/d)
Our partner is a family-run company headquartered in Switzerland and market leader for automated personal and goods protection on busy railways in Europe. Railway automation and highly available radio systems complement the product range and market segments.
The company employs about 210 people and operates in several countries with locations in Switzerland, Germany, England, Italy, Austria and Spain – as well as sales partners in Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, Poland, France, Portugal and Morocco, carefully selecting its partners to responsibly fulfil its safety-related tasks.
Role:
As a Development Engineer for Control and Railway Technology, you develop the control and electronic solutions for the next generation of our level crossing systems – from the initial idea to approval and series maturity. You combine sound knowledge in electrical engineering, automation and functional safety with practical development work. You work closely with product management, purchasing and production and accompany your solutions through tests, approval procedures and implementation in real systems.
Responsibilities:
Development of controls for level crossing systems from concept phase to approval
Development of electronic assemblies from circuit design through component selection to EMC-compliant layout and series maturity
Definition and programming of system functionality using PLC considering international requirements
Creation of test specifications and execution of system tests in the laboratory, EMC chamber and on real systems
Preparation of safety evidence and technical product documentation
Representation of technical solutions to experts and approval authorities
Collaboration with product management, purchasing and production
Occasional customer visits at home and abroad
Assumption of on-call duty in Switzerland
Qualifications:
Completed studies in automation technology, systems engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics or comparable qualification
Experience in developing electronic assemblies up to series maturity
Experience in PLC programming
Knowledge of VHDL and experience with CPLD/FPGA advantageous
Understanding of functional safety, e.g. fail-safe and FMEDA
Knowledge of CENELEC standards advantageous
Experience in control cabinet and system electrics as well as in EMC and environmental testing
Confident handling of laboratory measuring technology
Very good German and English skills, spoken and written
French skills advantageous
