The UB Basel combines tradition with innovation: With around 6 million printed and 3.5 million electronic media, five locations and half a million visitors per year, it is one of the most important information centres in the region. At the same time, we promote new ways in which knowledge is created, made accessible and has an impact - from innovative mediation concepts through Open Cultural Heritage and Open Science to Artificial Intelligence.

For committed junior staff, we offer two traineeships with opportunities to shape the future. From the start, you will work on exciting projects, take on responsibility and get to know the diverse tasks of a modern scientific library.
Two of the following areas can be chosen as training focuses: Subject specialist, Open Science, Historical Collections, Swiss Economic Archive (SWA).

Your Profile
- University Master’s degree
- Proven interest in information technologies, didactic flair, enjoyment in mediation and good presentation skills
- Passion for research support and a dynamic higher education landscape
- High team and cooperation skills, service orientation, commitment and flexibility
- Very good verbal and written communication skills
- Good foreign language skills
- Work experience or an internship in a library, archive or memory institution is an advantage
For the training focuses, you ideally also bring the following:
- Subject specialist: Experience in scientific project work or proven interest in developments in science and research
- Open Science: good knowledge of the scientific publication landscape and/or methods of digital research, initial programming skills; additionally desirable are statistical knowledge and curiosity about research data management
- Historical Collections/SWA: Experience in handling historical sources as well as in the digital indexing and mediation of historical holdings, combined with a strong interest in digitisation processes and data management
