Dans le cadre du projet financé par le Fonds national suisse (FNS) intitulé « Listening to X-Rays : Medical Heritage, Migration and Architecture in the Valais, XX-XXIth centuries », l’institut de recherche en Arts visuels (IRAV) de l’EDHEA met au concours le poste suivant :

As part of the SNSF-funded project " Listening to X-Rays: Medical Heritage, Migration and Architecture in the Valais, XX-XXIth centuries ", the Institute of Visual Arts is looking for a:

Votre mission

Réaliser une thèse de doctorat dans le domaine de l’histoire contemporaine (médecine, sciences, art) centrée sur un des cas d’étude du projet FNS, sous la responsabilité de la professeure en charge du projet;

Participer à l’écriture d’articles/chapitres ;

Assurer des tâches organisationnelles, comme l’organisation de séminaires, colloques et autres manifestations dans son domaine de recherche ;

Collaborer avec les autres membres de l’IRAV et participer aux activités et évènements communs de l’institut ;

Coordonner la gestion de données, en lien avec les partenariats, et assurer l’éthique.

Votre profil

Diplôme de Master (ou équivalent) en histoire, idéalement en histoire de la médecine/des sciences et des techniques ou sciences culturelles ;

Volonté de réaliser un travail de recherche dans une de ces disciplines ;

Intérêt pour l’étude des technologies en médecine et l’histoire sociale et économique de la migration ;

Formation ou expérience de recherche en art ou transdisciplinaire constitue un atout ;

Expérience avec l’analyse visuelle ; la radiographie constitue un atout ;

Maîtrise du français, de l’anglais et de l’allemand ;

Aisance rédactionnelle ;

Inscription en parallèle en filière de Doctorat dans une université suisse et à la formation doctorale HES (Badoc).

Durée de l’engagement : 12 mois, renouvelable pour 3 ans (maximum 4 ans)

Position description

Write a PhD thesis in the field of contemporary history (medicine, sciences, art) focusing on one of the case studies of the SNSF-funded project, under the supervision of the professor in charge of the project;

Contribute to the writing of articles/chapters;

Carry out organisational tasks, including the organisation of seminars, conferences and other project-related events;

Work closely with other members of the IRAV and actively participate in the activities and events organised by the Institute;

Oversee data management in coordination with project partners and ensure compliance with ethical standards.

Selection criteria

Master's degree (or equivalent) in history, preferably with a focus on the history of medicine, sciences and technology or cultural studies;

Motivation to undertake research in one of these disciplines;

Interest in the study of medical technologies as well as in the social and economic history of migration;

Academic background or research experience in art or in a transdisciplinary field would be an asset;

Experience in visual analysis, radiographic imaging would be an asset;

Spoken and written French, German and English;

Strong academic writing skills;

Concurrent enrolment in a doctoral program at a Swiss university and in the UAS doctoral training program (Badoc).
