About the job

Together with its partners, the St.Gallen Building Insurance (GVSG) protects its customers from fire and natural hazards and supports them in the event of damage. It is committed to damage prevention and fire services and provides insurance coverage in the event of an incident. As an independent public-law company, it employs around 60 full-time and 160 part-time staff.

Our Valuation Department is responsible for the cantonal valuation system. It is affiliated with the insurance division and determines the insurance values of all buildings and the tax values of all properties according to uniform criteria. Our specialist teams carry out around 24,000 building and 36,000 property valuations annually throughout the canton.

Due to the retirement of the previous post holder, we are looking for a

Head of Valuation

Workload: 80-100 %

Workplace: City of St.Gallen

Your tasks

• Overall responsibility for the professional, personnel and organisational management of the department with two internal and 45 external employees (specialist valuers)
• Ensuring a legally secure, consistent and efficient valuation system
• Analysis and preparation of data as a basis for the development of legal decisions
• Building and further developing know-how through targeted induction and promotion of our specialist valuers
• Active monitoring of developments in the field and ensuring effective information and knowledge management for quality assurance
• Operation and further development of our valuation application as a central working tool
• Representation of GVSG in specialist committees and participation in developments

Your profile

• Basic technical training in construction, supplemented by further training as a certified architect or construction manager
• Several years of practical experience in construction and project management as well as construction cost estimation
• Solid valuation experience with appropriate training (FA Real Estate Valuation / CAS Real Estate Valuation)
• Leadership experience with clear professional and personnel responsibility
• Structured, efficient and solution-oriented working style
• Confident manner, skilled in negotiation and assertive
• Resilient, decisive and always capable of acting under pressure
