The Department of Visceral- and Transplant Surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich and the University of Zurich are seeking an accomplished scientist to lead cutting-edge research in the field of cellular therapy for type I diabetes.

Your main tasks
The ideal candidate will hold an M.D. degree or Ph.D. in biology, bioengineering or a related discipline, and will demonstrate a proven record of exceptional research accomplishments as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.

- establish and lead a research program in biomaterial sciences and microdevice-microcapsule bioengineering
- mentor Master and doctoral students as well as post-doctoral fellows
- contribute expertise in working with primary pancreatic islets, stem-cell derived islets and cell lines
Your profile
Other essential qualifications include:
- a strong ability to draft manuscripts and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- a demonstrated record of securing competitive grant funding
- experience in mentoring students, staff, and postdoctoral researchers in their research projects
- the ability to work independently while leading multiple research projects
- a proven capacity to and collaborate effectively with a diverse, interdisciplinary research team
