About the job
The Institute for Mobility at the University of St.Gallen (IMO-HSG) is dedicated to future-oriented mobility solutions. At its core, it focuses on the ecological, economic, social, and behavioral investigation and classification of modern forms of mobility and the development of holistic mobility concepts. To this end, the IMO maintains a close-knit network with research institutions and mobility experts, especially from Europe as well as the USA and China. Additionally, the IMO is closely connected with decision-makers from politics and business. This corresponds to the IMO's declared goal of constructively shaping the current mobility transition.
Your Tasks
As part of your work at the Institute for Mobility, you will primarily deal with questions about the future of motorized individual transport (MIV). This includes topics such as the future role of the car in the mobility mix, the social and economic relevance of MIV, autonomous mobility services like autonomous ridepooling, the development of e-mobility, the coupling of the energy and mobility sectors, car-sharing vs. car-owning, as well as new business models around the car. The specific topic will be developed and determined with you in coordination with the institute's cooperation partners and should be independently worked on by you within the scope of your dissertation.
Your Profile
- A completed university degree in economics or engineering sciences or another course of study related to mobility and/or innovation
- A strong interest in mobility topics
- Enjoyment in taking responsibility, organizational talent, as well as a high degree of initiative and flexibility
- Very good language skills in German and English
- Meeting the formal requirements for a doctorate at the University of St.Gallen (minimum grade average 5.0 (CH) or 2.0 (DE), doctoral admission at the home university)
