To strengthen our team in the womenswear department, we are looking for a motivated and committed person as a Buyer (m/f/d), 100%, at the Basel headquarters location from 01.10.2026.
Your responsibilities
- You actively contribute to the development and further advancement of the product group strategy and align it with the company’s financial goals for the next three years.
- You are responsible for seasonal assortment planning and product selection.
- Together with the Merchandise Planner, you define top-down and bottom-up targets for the product group, margin requirements, OTB (Open-to-Buy) as well as the assortment architecture.
- You analyse the competition, conduct market analyses and evaluate customer and consumer needs.
- You identify, select and negotiate with brands and suppliers to ensure competitive prices, minimum order quantities, conditions and exclusivities.
- You build long-term and partnership-based relationships with suppliers and develop these through regular performance reviews and joint business plans.
- You ensure the accuracy of product data, efficient sample handling and compliance with compliance and quality standards.
- Together with suppliers, you develop marketing cooperations and support the introduction of new products.
- You optimise the productivity of articles (SKUs), product group segmentation and the number of variants.
- You are responsible for the product lifecycle planning, including product launches, assortment continuity and phase-out strategies.
- You define sales prices and promotion concepts taking margin targets into account.
- In close cooperation with the planning team, you develop strategies for price reductions, reorders and exiting assortments.
Your profile
- You have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, purchasing, merchandising or a comparable field.
- You bring 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing (buying), ideally in a multi-brand retail environment or department store.
- You possess a strong business understanding as well as solid experience in negotiating with suppliers.
- You have successfully developed and communicated a clear vision, inspired teams and driven the consistent implementation of strategies.
- You have specific experience in the Swiss retail market.
- You are passionate about womenswear and have a keen sense for products, silhouettes, materials and styling to create an attractive and relevant assortment.
- You have very good English skills as well as good knowledge of German, French or Italian.
