Laboratory Technician EFZ Specialising in Chemistry 100%Have you long wanted to know how foodstuffs are composed? Or what the story is with pesticides in fruits and vegetables as well as plasticisers in packaging? Then you are in the right place with us.
The Cantonal Laboratory is responsible for monitoring compliance with legislation on foodstuffs, chemicals, tobacco products and solariums in the Canton of Zurich. We test foodstuffs and consumer goods in our laboratory and inspect businesses.
To fulfil this important task in the public service, we have a modern, well-equipped and accredited analytical laboratory (ISO 17025).
The Training
In the training to become a Laboratory Technician EFZ specialising in Chemistry, you will learn all the basic techniques of the laboratory technician profession and the safe handling of chemicals. To deepen what you have learned, you will spend the first year mainly in the in-house training laboratory.
In the 2nd and 3rd years of training, you will learn in our departments how to analyse foodstuffs and consumer goods for their ingredients and additives, as well as for residues and contaminants. You will become familiar with a variety of analytical techniques, from simple manual measurements to state-of-the-art equipment for trace detection. You certainly will not lack variety.
The Requirements
You attend secondary school level A, enjoy mathematics, science and technology, and achieve good grades in these subjects. Recording the results and the work carried out is very important. You can apply your German and computer skills here. In addition, you have good powers of observation, manual dexterity and technical flair.
Analytics is teamwork; you enjoy working with others and quickly find your way in different groups with changing compositions. You are also willing to constantly acquire new knowledge and apply it in practice. Precise work is also not a foreign word to you.
