Tasks
As the largest municipality in the canton of Solothurn, the city of Olten faces diverse urban development projects. Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking a qualified individual for the Building Construction Department from 1 August 2027 to take on the client-side project management of new buildings, extensions, as well as demanding conversion and renovation projects.
In this role, you will accompany the city’s building construction projects from project initiation and needs assessment through planning and realisation to handover and project completion. You will coordinate the requirements of the owner, users, and operations, lead the project organisation on the client side, and manage collaboration with external planners and other project participants. Additionally, you will oversee competitions, planner procurement, and award procedures in accordance with public procurement law. You will monitor compliance with quality, costs, and deadlines, and prepare project budgets, decision-making bases, reports, and proposals for political bodies. Participation in investment planning and the further development of sustainable standards and processes will complete your range of duties.
Expectations
For this responsible role, you have a tertiary-level qualification (FH, ETH, HF or equivalent) in architecture, civil engineering, building services engineering, or a related construction technical field. You bring solid experience in managing construction and planning projects and are well acquainted with the SIA project phases as well as planning and construction processes. You are characterised by an independent, structured working style and communicate clearly and appropriately for the audience. Knowledge of contract law and public procurement is ideal or considered an advantage.
