We are looking for an assistant physician in the field of neurosurgery or orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system with interest and experience in spinal surgery starting summer 2026. The position is initially limited to one year. Upon obtaining specialist status and outstanding commitment, a promotion to deputy senior physician as well as an extension of the employment contract by mutual agreement is possible, with the option for partial or full further training specialising in spinal surgery.
These are your tasks
- You will care for patients in the spinal surgery outpatient clinic under the supervision of a senior physician and support them in the care of inpatients
- You will assist in operations, infiltrations of the spine and major joints, and depending on your level of training, you may perform these under supervision yourself
- Administratively, you will be relieved by the Department of Acute and Rehabilitation Medicine in the inpatient care of patients, allowing you to focus more on medical concerns
- You will work closely with colleagues from acute medicine, rehabilitation, pain clinic, plastic surgery, radiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and many other specialist areas
- You will actively participate in teaching, research, as well as further education and training
What distinguishes you
- You have several years of clinical experience with a clear spinal focus. Ideally, you are close to completing your specialist training and intend to undertake the SGNC/SO spinal surgery specialisation training.
- You have a completed medical degree (with MEBEKO recognition for foreign diplomas) and excellent oral and written German skills (at least level C1).
- You are a team-oriented, committed, and resilient personality with high social and professional competence.
- Great sense of responsibility, an open and pleasant communication style, and willingness for interdisciplinary/interprofessional collaboration characterise you.
- Scientific experience is an advantage in case of application.
