The Oncology Department provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for adult patients suffering from cancerous diseases and supports patients and their relatives. The aim is to ensure access to the best anti-cancer treatment, offer tailored care, and anticipate the needs of hospitalised patients (bone marrow transplant, cell therapy, immunotherapy, etc.). Concurrently, the Cancer Centre coordinates cross-sectional activities dedicated to cancer issues between services and departments.
It comprises 4 services (haematology, oncology, precision oncology, and radio-oncology) and consists of approximately 300 employees.
The Haematology Service provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients suffering from benign or malignant blood diseases, whether hospitalised or outpatients.
The service is involved in various clinical and translational research activities, in cooperation with the University of Geneva, and is also involved in several cooperative groups: SAKK, EBMT, GRAALL, SFGM-TC, HOVON, CML German study group, CLL German study group, etc…
Several rotations are carried out during the semester, under the direct supervision of a senior consultant and deputy. The rotations include hospitalisation (intensive treatment, allogeneic stem cell transplant, CAR-T & bispecifics) as well as outpatient follow-up of allografted patients (consultations and day hospital). Rotations also include the lymphoma and myeloma unit as well as the myeloid pathology and blood disease unit, in outpatient clinic and hospitalisation.
The programme also includes participation in integrative haematology diagnostics, including cytology, flow cytometry, and the possibility to contribute to intra-hospital consultation activities. Depending on availability, rotations may include immunohaematology, transfusion medicine and apheresis, as well as haemostasis.
