As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner, Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are immediately seeking a motivated and committed Senior Production Engineer for a temporary assignment of 1 year, with the option to extend.
The Global Instrument Network (GIN) of Roche delivers reliable and innovative instruments for in-vitro diagnostics to the company’s subsidiaries and customers. Roche manufactures a broad range of instruments, from point-of-care devices to large routine laboratory instruments. The network has five hubs (Mannheim, Ludwigsburg, Tucson, Rotkreuz, and Suzhou). As a network, the team works together to continuously improve manufacturing costs, strives for timely delivery of instruments of the highest quality, and thus enables Roche to bring innovative and differentiated instruments to market. The Production Engineering department comprises over 100 talented engineers and technicians at four different locations in Europe, China, and the USA. As a service department, the main focus is on proactively designing, optimising, and maintaining production processes and product designs for the GIN network. The department aims to stay at the forefront of technology and industry trends and to leverage its expertise to achieve operational excellence.
The global Production Engineering team is part of the global Engineering Chapter and is responsible for cost-efficient, reliable, and lean Change Control Management (ECR). The scope of tasks mainly includes product maintenance for established products and the introduction of new products from the pilot phase to commercial production. The sub-chapter contributes technical expertise to successfully implement material, system, process, and product changes.
The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented, senior team player with a high standard of quality. They hold a completed technical education (university of applied sciences/state-certified technician) in engineering and automation technology. Experience in project transfer to production, design of production lines, material management, as well as coordination, assembly, and repair of breadboards/functional models of complex mechatronic systems in a GMP environment (preferably regulated medical devices) is required. Proven experience in complex process coordination, change and stakeholder management with a service-oriented and "can-do" mentality for active structural improvement is expected. Strong team and communication skills as well as very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken, are essential for international collaboration in the matrix organisation (ION Network: DE, CH, USA).
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Coordination of technical changes: responsibility for planning, coordination, technical evaluation, task assignment, and implementation of changes in consultation with the Product Leader and/or Sub-Chapter Lead
- Creation and maintenance of specification and test documents, work plans, material master data, and bills of materials. Training on required documents and responsibility for smooth incoming and outgoing control of changes in production
- Proactive monitoring and communication to ensure timely completion of ECRs
- Responsible for compliance with quality objectives, deadlines, and regulatory requirements, such as responsibility for test documents and master data for product manufacturing
- Management of smaller projects assigned by the Product Lead or Sub-Chapter Lead (e.g., continuous improvement process, harmonisation projects)
- Support of development projects and assistance, e.g., in the creation of samples and prototypes, coordination of required materials, and feedback on manufacturability
Must-Haves
- Completed technical education with a university of applied sciences degree and further training as a state-certified technician in engineering and automation technology
- Initial experience in assembly, testing, complaint handling, and repair processing of medical diagnostic devices. Practical experience in device assembly and/or as a skilled worker in electronics or as a technical expert is advantageous
- Experience in transferring new projects into production as well as in designing production lines, material management, and coordination, assembly, and repair of breadboards and functional models of complex mechatronic systems in a GMP environment, preferably for regulated medical devices
- Proven experience in coordinating more complex processes, change and stakeholder management with a strong service mentality and "can-do" attitude to actively break down existing structures
- Strong team and communication skills for successful work in an international matrix organisation. Due to the ION network interfaces in Germany, Switzerland, and the USA, you have very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken, enabling smooth international collaboration
- Willingness and affinity to learn new digital tools, as well as enjoyment of working in a changing environment with corresponding flexibility and personal responsibility
- Willingness to undertake occasional assignments abroad
