To complete our team at the Geriatrics Service of the Mendrisio Regional Hospital, we are looking for a

Head Physician (80% - 100%)

Profile:

The person we are looking for works independently and at an interdisciplinary level, promoting the skills required by the Head Physician role and ensuring appropriate care for geriatric patients. The candidate will be responsible for:

• taking responsibility for the daily clinical management of the geriatrics ward (27 beds), with decision-making autonomy within their competences and in close coordination with the Deputy Head of Geriatrics;
• coordinating medical staff to ensure high-quality care;
• leading and training medical staff, encouraging their professional growth;
• promoting a culture of continuous improvement;
• strengthening relationships with general practitioners and local institutions;
• supporting management in defining and implementing strategy, respecting quality and financial objectives.

Necessary requirements:

• FMH title as Specialist in General Internal Medicine and advanced training in geriatrics (ISFM). For doctors with foreign qualifications, recognition by the Federal Commission for Medical Professions MEBEKO and registration with MedReg are mandatory before starting work.
• Proven knowledge of the Italian language (required level at least B2) with registration at MedReg before starting work. Knowledge of other national languages and English is desirable.
• Certificate of free practice in the Canton of Ticino obtained before starting at our Institute.
• Professional experience in geriatrics, at least in a senior physician role.
• Proven experience in clinical and managerial management of an acute geriatrics ward in a hospital setting.
• Initiative and clinical independence.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organisational skills and predisposition to interdisciplinary collaboration with a view to continuous service development improvement.
• Flexibility and a positive attitude, enjoyment of working in a team.
