Job Description
Purpose of the position:
The senior laboratory technician must be an expert in their field of activity and/or for a specific technique, while executing laboratory work independently. They will need to promote innovation, ensure technological monitoring, and contribute to its implementation. Acting as a technical reference and participating in laboratory equipment investment projects is an integral part of their role.
Responsibilities
- Manage a piece of equipment or a set of equipment (maintenance, repair, user training, and/or investment proposals within projects).
- Ensure the development and implementation of new technologies, organic synthesis pathways, or laboratory techniques in the laboratory.
- Harmonize working methods across the different sectors of the department.
- Conscientiously execute tasks requiring specific knowledge and be a visible expert in their field of activity.
- Be able to autonomously search for necessary information (e.g., in literature or from specialists) to accomplish their tasks.
- Contribute to the technical development of their colleagues.
- Update and develop technical documentation, operational procedures, and user manuals.
Qualifications
- CFC of laboratory technician in chemistry or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of hygiene, safety, environment, and quality rules in the laboratory.
- Spoken and written English is an asset
- Solid experience in a laboratory technician role
- Technical expertise in one or more areas of activity such as organic synthesis or analytical chemistry
- Proficiency in written and oral communication
