The EOC, the multi-site hospital of Ticino, is present with its institutes throughout the entire cantonal territory for a total of 1,000 beds. The organization effectively combines a local approach with an overall vision, guaranteeing the population a comprehensive and local hospital offer, regardless of where the services are requested.

To complete our team of the Patient Admission and Discharge Service at the Regional Hospital of Mendrisio, we are looking for a
Intercultural Mediator (60%)
Profile:
The sought figure, who collaborates with the Social Service present in the Hospital, works in an
interdisciplinary manner with the aim of continuously implementing and innovating the activities and projects already started since 2017, both internally and in the territory. The position contributes to consolidating an integrated approach, in collaboration with the Swiss Health Network for Equity, the competent Cantonal Offices, active organizations in the territory, and the SEM. The Hospital serves as a reference for the Federal Asylum Centers of Ticino and Central Switzerland.
The intercultural mediator will be hired with a 60% permanent contract.
Among their tasks are the creation of personalized pathways for patients with a migratory background or in socio-economic and health vulnerability situations, training and support for care staff, coordination of interpreting interventions, mediation aimed at ensuring respect for the rights of every patient, offering targeted advice to other EOC hospitals, participating in research projects, and implementing quality standards to guarantee equity in access to care. The role includes performing administrative back-office activities.
Necessary requirements:
- Degree or higher diploma considered equivalent, preferably in social sciences.
- Training in intercultural mediation or migration specialist.
- Significant work experience with migrants and asylum seekers and solid knowledge of the cantonal healthcare reality and social services.
- Excellent knowledge of the Italian language and good command of another national language and English.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, professionally managing complex situations, both with external and internal interlocutors.
- Ability to address various issues methodically and with an open and constructive approach.
- Excellent listening skills and good predisposition for teamwork.
