As the short-term planning manager for shunting staff and shunting locomotives, you and your team are the central point of contact for all short-term changes within the time horizon from 3 months to 48 hours before the transport day. Whether it is adjustments due to construction sites, optimisations or new customer requirements, your team adapts the planning at the right time, ensuring a solid handover to the dispatch and railway operations. You ensure efficient use of resources and a high degree of adaptability, directly contributing to the financial result as well as the stability and efficiency of the entire SBB rail freight traffic. At the same time, you look ahead. You actively promote process improvements, automation and new working methods and prepare short-term planning for the future. Your contribution makes a difference: you ensure smooth and efficient transport, a strong team and the future of rail freight traffic.

What you can get moving.

• In daily work, you lead a team of about 15 people and are part of the Resource Planning management team.
• You are responsible for timely, solid and efficient planning of locomotive rotations and services for shunting staff within a time horizon of about three months to 48 hours before the transport day.
• You passionately promote the digitalisation and automation of planning processes.
• Together with the management team, you develop planning standards and ensure their consistent application.
• As a manager, you actively contribute to the transformation of the SBB Cargo business model as well as leadership, culture and attitude.
• Based on relevant indicators, you anticipate changes in framework conditions and optimise short-term resource planning, directly contributing to the financial result.

What you bring with you.

• In times of change, you lead people with clarity, respect and consistency and maintain an overview with foresight.
• You analyse complex situations, simplify them to reach clear decisions and deduce effective measures. You communicate convincingly, both verbally and in writing, on an equal footing.
• You hold a university or university of applied sciences degree in business administration, finance or a technical specialisation. Depending on your career path, you have completed training in business administration.
• To meet these challenges, an excellent knowledge of German and French (C1) is required.
