Your tasks
Follow a two-year higher professional training course while working, with the aim of practising as a police officer within the Fribourg Cantonal Police. The main tasks are as follows:
-
- prevent threats to public safety and order and intervene when necessary;
- record offences, gather evidence and identify their perpetrators, in accordance with criminal procedure provisions;
- ensure the enforcement of administrative and judicial decisions;
- respond to emergency calls and alarms, carry out rescues and provide first aid in cases of serious danger or accidents;
- prevent offences.

- good physical condition and good stress resistance;
- willingness to work irregular hours, evenings, nights and weekends;
- presence, interpersonal ease and communication skills enabling teamwork and conflict management;

- good general knowledge;
- knowledge of the other official language of the canton is an advantage.
Who are we?
Attached to the Directorate of Security, Justice and Sport, the Fribourg Cantonal Police has the general mission of ensuring public safety, maintaining order and enforcing laws.
It serves the population and authorities. This is reflected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by the accomplishment of a large number of varied and demanding tasks: emergency interventions, offence reports, crime prevention, investigations, etc. The increasingly important role of the police in managing social problems requires tact and know-how from officers.
It is also responsible for road traffic safety. It supports public event organisers in terms of security and assists cantonal and municipal authorities during serious events.
The Fribourg Cantonal Police is composed of two main bodies, the gendarmerie and the security police, and three divisions: command, logistics and IT, human resources and training.
