Ensuring electricity in Switzerland
Without voltage, no electricity flows in the high-voltage grid. Therefore, it is a core task of Swissgrid to ensure voltage control. This begins with grid development, so that expansions such as new lines and cables do not cause voltage problems. In operation, Swissgrid collaborates with power plant and distribution grid operators to secure resources for voltage control. In this role, you will take responsibility for the further development of voltage control as well as for identifying and implementing measures for safe and stable system operation. In particular, you will perform the following tasks:
- Adopt a comprehensive view from grid development through system operation to billing
- Further develop the concept for voltage control in the high-voltage grid, taking into account stakeholder interests and the regulatory environment
- Coordinate and align topics in the area of voltage control and grid development
- Provide expertise for projects and stakeholders and assume technical client responsibility for internal and external assignments and studies
- Recognise and analyse relevant developments and trends and derive impacts and necessary actions for Swissgrid
- Represent Swissgrid’s interests towards industry experts, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders
This is how you make a difference
For this position, we are looking for a team player with a reliable, structured, and quality-conscious working style, who has the ability to help shape the Swiss transmission grid and orchestrate changes. You bring the following:
- You have a degree (possibly a doctorate) in electrical engineering or a similar field from a university or university of applied sciences
- At least 5 years of professional experience in energy supply or industry in a technical, specialist, or coordinating role
- You possess sound knowledge of electrical energy systems as well as experience in voltage control, grid planning, or system operation
- You are accustomed to taking responsibility for a subject area and bring analytical and conceptual skills
- Experience in technical coordination/project management is an advantage
- Ability to pass on knowledge and experience and to convincingly argue with management and external partners to reach common positions
- Very good, business-fluent German skills as well as good English skills are required. French skills are a great advantage.
