Road Maintenance Worker in the Tunnel Cleaning Team
Department of Civil Engineering | 80-100 % | Thusis
The Department of Civil Engineering is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of the cantonal roads as well as water engineering and slow traffic in Graubünden. We also take care of the operational maintenance of the national roads within the canton. The canton’s road infrastructure includes over 1,450 civil engineering structures, including bridges at dizzying heights of up to 90 metres and tunnels up to 3 kilometres long. The challenges posed by the nature of our mountainous canton in summer and winter make our work demanding and varied. We are looking for a road maintenance worker for the Road Maintenance Department in District 7 Thusis from 1 December 2026 or by arrangement.
- Cleaning of cantonal and national road tunnels throughout the canton (eight months summer service)
- Carrying out road maintenance work in a small maintenance team
- Clearing up and maintenance work after accidents or natural events
- Checking the condition of roads and road facilities
- Performing night duty (approx. 8 months per year)
- Performing winter on-call duty (approx. 4 months per year)
- Completed training in the construction trade or as a mechanic
- Manual dexterity as well as technical and mechanical knowledge
- Willingness to work night shifts and on-call duty
- Physical and mental resilience
- Enjoyment of teamwork in a small group
- Driving licence category C or willingness to obtain one
