Scientific Staff 80-90% (m/f/d) «Biodiverse and Climate-Resilient Lakes»
To support practice-oriented research in the field of lake biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and lake management, we are looking for a candidate for the research department of surface waters ( Surf ) or aquatic ecology ( Eco ) starting October 1, 2025, or by agreement.
The focus of the planned work is on synthesizing Eawag-internal, national, and international knowledge on the management and monitoring of lakes regarding water quality, biodiversity, fishery management, and revitalization in relation to practice-oriented questions of lake management. The overarching goal is - in collaboration with other experts at Eawag - to create an implementation-oriented action plan for the most important lakes in Switzerland in times of re-oligotrophication, climate change, and the spread of invasive alien species.
You will prepare the available knowledge on these topics in close collaboration with other experts at Eawag, the Federal Office for the Environment, as well as in exchange with cantonal authorities and other stakeholders, organize and lead workshops, and develop reports and practical products for implementation such as fact sheets or contributions to practice journals as well as scientific publications.
You are an engaged, independent, and communicative personality with a doctorate in environmental sciences or biology, or a university degree with several years of experience in lake management or a related field. You have solid knowledge in limnology, aquatic ecology, lake management, and possibly fish ecology, as well as experience in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration and the integration and synthesis of knowledge in research, policy, and practice. You are proficient in handling data, organizing, visualizing, and interpreting it. You possess very good organizational and time management skills. You bring integrative competencies at the interface between research, policy, and practice and are characterized by high social and emotional intelligence. Proficient oral and written expression in German or French, as well as good English skills, are required for this position. Knowledge of another national language is an advantage.
You can expect a versatile and exciting activity within an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented team. We offer a modern workplace, progressive employment conditions, and a diverse range of tasks. The position is limited to five years. The workplace can be Kastanienbaum near Lucerne or Dübendorf near Zurich. However, you will work on-site at both Eawag locations.
Eawag is a modern employer and offers an excellent working environment where employees can contribute their strengths, experiences, and ways of thinking. We promote gender equality and are committed to personnel diversity and inclusion. The compatibility of work and family is a matter of course for us.
