About the job
With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a nationally and internationally recognised institution. To learn more about our organisation, take a few minutes to view our 2025 retrospective by clicking here .
With nearly 1,500 employees, the Department of Rehabilitation and Geriatrics is a medical centre focused on the elderly, spread across 5 sites: Trois-Chêne, Loëx, Bellerive, Beau-Séjour (Stern) and Joli-Mont.
Located in the heart of a park on the Belle-Idée estate, the Trois-Chêne Hospital welcomes people whose health requires hospitalisation for geriatric care or rehabilitation treatments. The hospital has a state-of-the-art radiology unit, intermediate care, and an emergency service that can accommodate patients aged 75 and over, excluding life-threatening emergencies.
As a nurse in the palliative care unit at the Joli-Mont Clinic, you autonomously and interdisciplinarily ensure the comprehensive and personalised care of patients requiring technical and complex care.
In this context, you identify complexity and adapt care according to the psychological, physical, and spiritual needs of patients, taking their relatives into account. You use appropriate tools for their care and provide concise and personalised oral and written handovers for follow-up, notably on DPI.
You also perform a supervisory and teaching role for trainees and new staff members.
The position is part of a dynamic of interdepartmental collaboration and includes rotation within another palliative care service (COSPA), promoting the sharing of practices and skills development.
Finally, you contribute to the development of care quality and engage in professional reflection based on the analysis of nursing care practices.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.
A CAS in palliative care or an equivalent qualification, as well as any other training related to palliative patient care (palliative care awareness, pain management, etc.) is required or must be obtained during employment.
You have at least 2 years of hospital experience, preferably in palliative care. You are proficient in acute technical care, particularly monitoring related to non-invasive ventilation.
You are comfortable with palliative patient care and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
Throughout your professional career, you have managed stressful situations and are capable of working quickly and independently. Moreover, you are recognised for your adaptability and ability to manage priorities.
Thanks to your team spirit and communication skills, you work interprofessionally to unite all partners around a common vision to develop care projects aimed at optimal care for patients and their relatives. You appreciate collaboration and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Proficiency with IT tools is necessary to successfully carry out this mission, as well as a good command of the French language.
