The Geneva Foundation for Sociocultural Animation is a partner institution, funded by the Canton and municipalities, whose mission is to promote and maintain social cohesion in the Canton of Geneva, that is to ensure the quality of the relationship between individuals and society. Through socio-educational, sociocultural and associative field actions carried out by centres and outreach teams, the Foundation meets the population's needs in terms of meeting, exchange, solidarity, citizenship, quality of life, with the general aim of preventing social exclusion.

A position of sociocultural animator at 84.15% is open within the Plainpalais Community Centre association to develop free reception, the community axis and participative neighbourhood life.

Job Description

• Work within a team committed to operating under shared governance
• Have a clear interest in community development, participation, and valuing resources of all ages in a neighbourhood
• Have the skills to develop free reception open to children, pre-adolescents, and the intergenerational general public, collaborating with local resource persons
• Participate in the development of the neighbourhood's associative life by involving various partners in networked work
• Encourage meetings and activities open to all, with a focus on greater biodiversity, greenery and ecological orientation, key work areas for the MQP and its committee
• Encourage people to volunteer at the community centre
• Ensure summer weeks of day camps for children, as well as during school holidays
• Motivate and lead a team of instructors and volunteers while respecting each individual's integrity
• Provide active presence at committee meetings
• Contribute to the development, monitoring and evaluation of the institutional project
• Collaborate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the annual animation programme
• Participate in and organise activities/actions aimed at the neighbourhood and the general public
• Contribute to the preparation of the activity report and the Annual General Meeting
• Assume coordination, organisation, planning and priority management tasks within a shared responsibility framework
• Assume administrative, budgetary and management tasks of the MQP
• Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the MQP budget
• Develop collaborations between sectors to promote links between generations and the audiences served
• Contribute to team cohesion based on the current relational charter

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in social work, HES level or an equivalent university degree (education sciences, sociology, psychology, anthropology, ethnology / State Diploma of Specialised Educator (DEES), Higher State Diploma of Youth, Popular Education and Sport (DESJEPS) with SEFRI recognition for the latter two diplomas)
• Proven experience in animation and interest in neighbourhood planning issues, sensitivity to environmental matters
• Recognised skills in project design and presentation, creative, versatile and dynamic spirit
• Interest in neighbourhood planning and transformation issues
• Ability to engage in and drive projects aligned with the City of Geneva’s climate strategy and the community centre’s active commitment to ecological transition
• Ability and willingness to work in a team and network
• Open to rotation between different MQP sectors
• Comfortable with shared governance
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating in a team
• Autonomy in managing and monitoring projects, inviting the concerned audiences to co-construct and appropriate them
• Good experience in organisation, planning and priority management
• Comfortable with administrative tasks, accounting and communication
• Good knowledge of IT tools and applications used in community centres
• Skills or willingness to train in multimedia techniques, projection, sound system, sound recording, etc.
• Experience in communication, multimedia and social networks
• Good knowledge of the Geneva social system and the functioning of FASe
• Interest in continuing education
• Good written French skills
• Open, friendly, smiling, sporty, energetic, enthusiastic, stimulating, creative, funny, with a sense of humour
• Strong stress management skills
• Ability to communicate desires and needs to the team
