About the job
What to expect
As an AI Engineering intern, you will be part of our AI Core Team and work closely with experienced AI Engineers and our Chief AI Officer (CAIO). You will develop innovative tools and solutions for AI-supported software development, test new technologies, and bring them into productive use. At the same time, you will actively shape our AI skill shift by enabling development teams to use agentic workflows safely and productively. You will contribute your ideas both to our internal initiatives and to exciting customer projects.
- Participation in exciting customer projects as well as support in preparing and conducting customer demos and workshops.
- Support in the further development of our AI layer, especially in agent configurations, skills, hooks, subagents, plugins, and MCP servers.
- Collaboration in the development of tools and integrations for coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) for software development and internal applications.
- Assistance in integrating AI agents into existing development tools such as GitLab, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, and Artifactory.
- Evaluation of new AI tools, models, and technologies as well as development of proofs of concept and best practices for the entire software development process.
- Collaboration with our platform, security, and business teams in further developing our AI infrastructure, for example with the LLM and MCP gateway or secure access to company data.
- Active participation in shaping our AI community by building and maintaining best practices, knowledge bases, and showcases, as well as company-wide knowledge transfer.
- Contributing to our internal AI skill shift by preparing and conducting demos, workshops, pairing sessions, and training for our development teams.
What you bring
- Master’s degree at ETH or EPFL, a university, or a comparable institution in computer science or a technical field; a master’s thesis in AI is an advantage.
- Solid programming skills in Python, TypeScript and/or Java/Kotlin, and enjoyment in developing clean, maintainable software.
- Initial practical experience with LLMs and AI agents, for example with LLM APIs, coding agents, MCP or RAG, from studies, thesis, or own projects.
- High intrinsic motivation to independently engage with new AI technologies, tools, and current developments and to try them out practically.
- A pronounced hands-on mentality, initiative, and enjoyment in tackling technical challenges in a solution-oriented way and implementing your own ideas.
- Enthusiasm for knowledge exchange and enjoyment in preparing technical content understandably and inspiring others for new technologies.
- Very good German skills as well as good English skills.
Advantageous
- Own projects or active contributions to the open-source community, for example on GitHub.
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD or OAuth2/OIDC.
- Basic understanding of security and data protection, especially in dealing with AI agents.
